There will also be plenty of food on sale in concessions at the meet if you do not want to carry a cooler. Don't forget sunscreen--we will be under a tent, but still out in a parking lot, hopefully under sunny skies! SAVE THE DATES:

Message from Chamberlayne
Welcome to CRA! We are excited about the upcoming meet.
We will have concessions and Chick-fil-a for sale.
We will need an extra person on the head table and we will need a referee or starter for the 2nd half. We are a small team, as you know! and sometimes have a hard time filling all spots. We might also need a few extra timers.
Thanks and look forward to the meet.

Hey Wahoos,
Congratulations! It looks as though we pulled out a big victory on Monday night. I am
so proud of all of our swimmers. It took a lot of gutsy performances to win.
Many of our kids were swimming injured or were recovering from illnesses. Even
our healthy ones had to deal with much more adversity this week than last. As I
said, RCC is our closest competition this year, and they have many talented
athletes on their roster. I am really glad that our swimmers got to experience
that type of competition early in the season. It let some realize that they’re
better than they thought. It also provided some of our kids with a much needed
humbling experience to help motivate us throughout the season. For those who
lost close races, you’ll get the opportunity to finish on top when we race them
again the last meet!
Once again, here are the swimmers that I am NOT expecting to compete at our next
meet. Please let me know if you are on the list and can make it or vice versa:
Reid Anderson
Brady Curtis
Grahmn Godwin
Will McaleaveyEng
Alexander Sahar
Kate Stevens
Rory Stevens
Catherine Wise
Ally Darnell
Please email me at mmckee11@vt.edu if you have any questions.

Hey Wahoos,
This email will not be as long as last week’s. I thought that our first meet went very well. It was fast and went very smoothly. That’s a rare success for the first meet of the season, especially with so many new volunteers. So yea, you guys are awesome! Our swimmers also exceeded my expectations. We had less DQs than usual, and many kids swam their best times. Hopefully we can raise the bar even higher next week.
I only had to make two last-minute event changes at our last meet due to swimmers not showing up. That made for one of my least hectic meets. I thank all of you for letting me know well in advance if your child could not participate. Once again, here is my list of swimmers that I have recorded as not being able to make our next meet on the 15th:
Abigail Davis
Emma Davis
Hannah Davis
Bridgett Dunn
Michael Dunn
Shauna Dunn
Graham Godwin
Michael Maguire
Ieuan Phillips
Caston Swedenborg
Raymond Tighe
Catherine Wise
Aaron Fisk
Please let me know as soon as possible if you’re not on this list and cannot participate, or if you are on the list and can make it after all.
We have an altered practice schedule on Tuesday, and our Friday’s practice is canceled. Because this is such a crazy week, I will be holding an additional practice on Saturday. Please don’t feel obligated to break any plans or put too much pressure on your kids to swim on Saturday. For those who wish to attend, Mites will practice from 9:30AM to 10:00AM. Everyone else will practice from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. I hope to see many of your kids there.
If you have any questions please do not reply to this email. Instead email me at mmckee11@vt.edu

Coach Mike message
Hello Wahoos,
With our first meet rapidly approaching, I thought everyone might appreciate an update on how we’ve been so far and on what to look forward to in the coming weeks. First, I’d like to welcome all of the new families to our program. Your kids have been a pleasure to work with so far, and we’re definitely glad you are part of the Woodmont family. I would also like to welcome back everyone else on the team. It really is amazing how much the kids have grown over the year. For some of them, this will be my 7th year as their coach, and I’m lucky to have known them for so long.
So far the kids are practicing very well. However, there never seems to be enough time to prepare for the first meet, and losing a week of practice did not help. It is important to try to make as many practices as possible, especially these first few weeks. Now is when I lay the foundations that we will build upon for the rest of the season. I understand that many of the kids have other commitments, and believe it or not, I encourage them to participate in their many school activities and other sports. I just want everyone to be aware of what they could be missing for swimming. Don’t worry, this will be the last time I mention practice attendance this season.
Our first meet is this Sunday. I will be going over with the swimmers what to expect. Try to keep your kids out of the sun and as hydrated as possible on meet days. I will post what events everyone is swimming by Friday. I am looking forward to seeing our swimmers compete. If any of you have questions about the meet please feel free to ask.
My biggest request from parents is to please let me know well in advance if your child will not be participating in a swim meet. For our first meet this Sunday, the only swimmers that have told me they will not be attending are:
-Aaron Fisk
-Michael Maguire
-Emily Huesman (possibly)
If I forgot someone, or if you have not told me, please email me or call me as soon as possible, and let me know. Thanks!
Lastly, Most of you know that I am very competitive and would do almost anything to help build our program and help our pool. One of my team goals this year is to win our division. Unfortunately, I already have recorded that 14 swimmers will not be able to attend our second meet on June 15, and I expect a few more will miss on top of that. Normally this would not bother me too much, but our opponent, RCC, is our closest competition this year, and the winner of this meet will most likely win the division championship. With over 15% of our swimmers missing, victory will be tough to come by. If anyone who said that they could not attend can somehow fit it into your schedule, you would be most appreciated.
If anyone ever has a question, please feel free to email or call me anytime. Also, I usually have a couple minutes before and after each practice to talk in person. Thanks,
Mike McKee

May 12 message
Greetings Wahoos,
It was good to see so many new faces today--Welcome! As we left this afternoon, Rick and Jenna Adkins had turned on the water. Pretty soon that white hole will look like it should--Wahoo Blue!
We have decided to hold off practices until next Monday--it would have been too cold anyway. Please check the website for your child's practice time. www.woodmont4fun.com
If you have not signed up, send your registration form and check (unfortunately you must now add the $10 late fee per child) to:
Cathy Welborn
10316 Ashburn Road
Richmond, VA 23235
If you have any questions, send a note. See you next Monday and think warm thoughts!

April 23rd Email
Greetings Wahoo Friends and Families!
We are gearing up for another fun Wahoo summer for your swimmer and/or diver. Swim Coaches Mike McKee & Meg Anderson, and Dive Coach Ruthie Grimsdale, will return to lead the teams in another fun-filled season. We have already heard from many of our kids that they can’t wait to get started. We hope yours will be joining us too.
The 2009 Wahoo Swim and Dive Registration will be held in conjunction with the annual WRA Spring Cleanup at the pool on Saturday, April 25th, 10am- 2pm. Children ages 5-18, at all swim /dive levels can join! Your child just needs to be able to swim the length of the pool to make the team. For WRA Membership and Wahoo Team Membership Registration forms/meet dates/times/more information, visit our website at www.woodmont4fun.com
As you all know, it really does take a village to run a swim and/or dive meet. This season will be a bit more laid back as we are swimming in the smaller White Division. Each parent is required to fill a spot for either 3 full meets or 6 half meets. Sign ups for these positions will be scheduled on registration day. Remaining functions will be delegated to those that register late. The options and meet dates are listed on the registration form.
Short training sessions for Strokes and Turns, Referee, Starter and Clerk of Course workers are required and will be available through the month of May. These are very valuable positions in service to the team, and it's recommended that returning swimmer/diver parents give special consideration to these positions. Dates for these training sessions will go out in the next couple of weeks.
Registration prices were held at the same rate as last year: $80 for a single program (swim or dive), and $105 for the dual program (swim and dive). A late fee of $10 will be added if turned in after May 10th. Margaret Hood will be at registration to take orders for swimsuits and other aquatics apparel needs. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to wear a team suit.
Swim practice schedules are posted on the website. The dive schedule will be posted shortly. Please contact Aquatics Coordinator Cathy Welborn, if you have any swim team questions (658-8341) or send a note to WoodmontWahoos@aol.com. Contact Dive Team Coordinator Kathleen Dunn, at dunnfeld@comcast.net for questions about dive.
Looking forward to seeing you in ONE month! If you have a new neighbor , pass along this note and encourage them to join our awesome community pool and team.
Sincerely,
Tracey & Cathy Welborn
